For a flight to Antigua Guatemala, check La Aurora in Guatemala City. It is the international airport with code GUA. Antigua is the destination of the road transfer, not the airport named on that booking. Keep the airport and your Antigua address as two distinct points.

Check the airport name and code on your flight before arranging the transfer. Give the ground-transport seller the flight number, date and Antigua hotel address. Allow time to leave the aircraft, pass arrival checks and collect bags before reaching the driver. A town name in a flight-search label does not establish where the plane lands. The airport transfer and a later Pacaya excursion need separate timing.

Antigua Guatemala airport: name the actual arrival point

Avianca's Guatemala City flight details names La Aurora International Airport as GUA. The DGAC arrivals page is labelled for Aeropuerto Internacional La Aurora. Sources checked October 2026. Use your airline's actual booking for the flight details that apply to you.

An online travel page may group airports under the town you searched. That makes search easier, but it does not move the airport to that town. Read the airport code in the selected flight, then use that code when requesting the road transfer. A seller needs the real arrival airport to quote the right service.

Do not confuse Antigua Guatemala with Antigua in the Caribbean. Use the country name, airport name and code together. If a booking record shows a destination you did not expect, resolve it with the airline before paying for onward transport.

The three points in an airport arrival

  1. Flight arrival: The airport on the airline booking.
  2. Ground meeting point: The place where the transfer seller agrees to meet you.
  3. Antigua drop-off: The hotel or office address where the road journey ends.

These points should all appear in your travel plan. The meeting point may be outside the area where you collect luggage. The final stop may be a transport office rather than your hotel door. Ask for both details instead of treating “airport to Antigua” as a complete address.

Save the meeting instructions offline. If a driver uses a sign, ask what it will say. Get a local contact and a plan for what to do if you cannot find one another. Do not leave the agreed area to look for a distinct pickup without contacting the seller.

Shared shuttle after a flight

A shared seat can suit an arrival that fits the service's departure time. Ask whether your selected time is a fixed departure or a pickup window. Check whether the seller needs the flight number and what it does if the flight arrives late.

Atitrans' city-to-Antigua service names airport pickup and a hostel or office stop in Antigua. Checked October 2026. That description is an example of a route, not a guarantee that a seat is open for your flight. Ask which final stop applies to your booking.

Do not set the shuttle time equal to the scheduled landing time. Landing is only one stage. You still need to reach the ground meeting point. Ask the seller which departure is realistic for the flight you have booked, and keep the terms for missing it.

Use the shared shuttle guide for the seat and luggage terms, plus waiting checks. It also explains why you need to know the exact final stop before comparing prices.

Private transfer after a flight

A private booking should state how the driver follows the flight and when the included wait begins. Ask what happens if the flight changes date, lands early or is delayed. A flight number does not replace a clear waiting agreement.

Give the seller the number of passengers and bags. Ask whether the quoted vehicle fits both without using a passenger seat for luggage. Mention items needing extra space before paying. A private service still needs a suitable vehicle for your actual party.

For more detail, use the private Guatemala City to Antigua transfer guide. Compare the full quote and wait terms. A price per person may assume a larger group. Check the total for your own party.

Arriving late or changing a flight

If your flight changes, contact the ground seller as well as the airline. They may be separate businesses with separate booking systems. Do not assume the driver receives a new flight number or date just because the airline sent you an updated ticket.

Ask how to contact the seller outside normal office hours. Keep that route offline with the booking. If the seller does not confirm the changed pickup, do not assume the old agreement now covers the new arrival.

If the arrival no longer fits the transport you booked, compare changing the ride with changing the night's accommodation. The right choice depends on the terms and the schedule. There is no single late-night plan that suits every flight or party. Get a confirmed service rather than relying on an unverified promise of vehicles being available.

Luggage and the first Antigua night

Send the exact hotel address and check-in instructions to the transfer seller. Confirm whether it drops at that door or at a nearby meeting point. If you must walk with bags, understand that last part before arrival. Ask the place you stay how a late check-in works.

Keep valuables and the documents you need in a bag you can carry with you. Check the transport seller's luggage terms for larger cases. If the airline delays a bag, ask it how delivery works. Do not expect the transfer driver to handle that task.

If you travel with a child, request any needed child seat before booking. Ask the seller to confirm the type and placement. Do not treat a general family-service label as proof that the correct seat will be in your vehicle.

Airport arrival and a same-day Pacaya visit

Treat a same-day hike as a separate decision. The transfer to Antigua does not automatically join a tour departure there. A delayed flight or a slow arrival process can break the connection even if both bookings remain valid.

The Guatemala City to Antigua guide helps choose the arrival mode. The Antigua to Pacaya guide covers the onward visit. Give both sellers the plan if you hope to connect them. Ask what happens if the first service is late.

If you instead want to leave directly from the capital, confirm that the excursion accepts an airport pickup. A city hotel pickup is a distinct service. The supplier needs a realistic meeting time and its own delay plan. Do not infer those terms from the fact that the airport is in the city.

Returning to the airport

Your return flight needs a fresh transfer plan. Give the seller the departure flight and the time you need to be at the terminal under your airline's instructions. Ask the ground seller to plan the pickup with road delays in mind.

Do not simply reverse the time from your arrival journey. Pickup rounds or traffic, along with the terminal process can differ. A seller's average drive estimate is not a promise that you can leave at the last possible moment.

Keep the final pickup point clear if you change hotels in Antigua. Check bags and passenger count again if the party has changed. Save the return confirmation as carefully as the arrival booking. The same route name does not mean the details of both journeys are identical.

Airport FAQ

Which airport code should I give the driver?

Give the code on your actual flight booking, together with the airport name, flight number and date. For the La Aurora arrival described here, that code is GUA. Do not send only “Antigua” as the pickup. The driver needs a real airport meeting point, not the final town of your trip.

Does landing time tell me when I can meet the shuttle?

No. Landing comes before the arrival process and bag collection. Ask the shared-service seller which departure it accepts for your flight and what happens if you miss it. Do not invent a fixed clearance time from another visitor's experience. Keep the seller's advice and missed-departure terms with the booking.

Does a private pickup include unlimited waiting?

Do not assume so. Ask when waiting starts, how much the quote covers and what happens afterwards. Flight tracking and waiting terms are related but distinct. A seller can follow the aircraft and still limit the period after you land. Get that part of the service in writing before paying.

Can I use the arrival ride as my Pacaya transport?

Only if the supplier agrees to that exact service. A transfer to an Antigua hotel does not include a drive to the park or a walking guide. If you want to connect both tasks, ask for the full route and timing. Otherwise keep the bookings separate and leave room between them.

Verdict on the Antigua Guatemala airport question

An Antigua Guatemala airport plan needs a clear flight arrival and road destination. Use the flight's actual airport name and code, then arrange the road leg to Antigua. Confirm the meeting point and wait, plus the final address. Keep the later volcano trip separate through the Pacaya tour choices. A clear airport plan starts with the ticket you hold, rather than a destination label in a search result.
